We've spent the last few days in the front range visiting friends that live in the area. On Monday we drove to Golden, CO to hand out with Will's friend Nate. We played a round of disc golf at Memorial Park in Arvada- It was all par 3 and a lot easier than the West Jefferson course we play in NC. Will and Nate did some paddling on Clear Creek from the dam down to the play park. Will forgot his paddle back in Lafayette so he used Nate's pretty awesome wooden paddle.
There was a great path along the river and through the town of Golden. I went for a run while waiting for them. It was a little hilly but here was a view overlooking the town.
We hung out at the Mountain Toad Brewery afterwards.
Tuesday we traveled to Denver to hang out with Kris Ivers and his girlfriend Jess. We ate lunch at Zaidy's near downtown and then checked out the Botanical Gardens. Deborah Butterfield had an exhibit called the Nature of Horses there where she originally constructed the horses out of wood but then made a mold and filled the mold with bronze. She painted the bronze to make it look like drift wood. It was pretty hot outside so we finished the day with ice cream from Sweet Action Ice Cream. They had really creative flavors like strawberry rhubarb, lemon poppy seed and chocolate cinnamon.
We got some work done on the teardrop this evening- some new rims to move the wheels further away from the trailer and a little welding to solidify the base.
We ate dinner at The Post tonight- family style.
Huge shout out to Lauren and Jimmy for hosting us at their house and Hillary for feeding us and hanging out with us. Here is a picture from an epic four square match that took place in their garage.
We plan on heading down south to the Colorado Springs area in the morning.
