Golden and Denver

We've spent the last few days in the front range visiting friends that live in the area. On Monday we drove to Golden, CO to hand out with Will's friend Nate. We played a round of disc golf at Memorial Park in Arvada- It was all par 3 and a lot easier than the West Jefferson course we play in NC. Will and Nate did some paddling on Clear Creek from the dam down to the play park. Will forgot his paddle back in Lafayette so he used Nate's pretty awesome wooden paddle.

There was a great path along the river and through the town of Golden. I went for a run while waiting for them. It was a little hilly but here was a view overlooking the town.

We hung out at the Mountain Toad Brewery afterwards.

Tuesday we traveled to Denver to hang out with Kris Ivers and his girlfriend Jess. We ate lunch at Zaidy's near downtown and then checked out the Botanical Gardens. Deborah Butterfield had an exhibit called the Nature of Horses there where she originally constructed the horses out of wood but then made a mold and filled the mold with bronze. She painted the bronze to make it look like drift wood. It was pretty hot outside so we finished the day with ice cream from Sweet Action Ice Cream. They had really creative flavors like strawberry rhubarb, lemon poppy seed and chocolate cinnamon.

We got some work done on the teardrop this evening- some new rims to move the wheels further away from the trailer and a little welding to solidify the base.

We ate dinner at The Post tonight- family style.

Huge shout out to Lauren and Jimmy for hosting us at their house and Hillary for feeding us and hanging out with us. Here is a picture from an epic four square match that took place in their garage.

We plan on heading down south to the Colorado Springs area in the morning.

Weekend in Boulder, CO

Enjoyed hanging out with NC friends in Boulder area this weekend. Lauren and Jimmy work in the area and had the weekend off to hang out with us and show us around.

We went climbing in Boulder Canyon at an area called The Watermark on Saturday. We crossed the river via rope to get to the area and then were able to climb 2 different routes. Lauren is an awesome climber and set the routes for us...a 5.7 and 5.8. We both made it to the top without falls and had lots of fun. Most of our previous climbing experience had been indoors back in college so we definitely enjoyed getting back into it.

Today Will and Lauren went boated some of Boulder Creek from just above 4 mile Canyon down to the play park. No pictures due to a sudden thunderstorm. Jimmy and I biked up the path in Boulder Canyon between thunderstorms. The path followed the river some so we could watch them boat and had a great view of the mountains.

Our plan is to stay around Boulder a few more days to catch up with other friends and do a little more biking/boating.

Driving Out West

We started our big drive on Thursday, made a quick stop in Asheville to transfer the dog over and then did some never ending driving. We made it to Illinois on the first night but had to stop because of some crazy storms and weather. We drove through Missouri and Kansas on Friday. Classic pictures of the St. Louis arch below.

We made it to Lafayette, CO late Friday night and are excited to hang out with some Boone friends for the next few days!
